"I have had the pleasure of working with Heather Klein on several occasions.  The first was when she and Miriam approached The Contemporary Jewish Museum to propose staging a newly created Yiddish Song Cycle.  As a programmer always looking for new talent, and for ideas that would excite my audience, we went ahead.  Of all the many, many artists I have worked with over the years, there's no one else with the rare combination of exceptional talent, graciousness, and kindness as Heather Klein.  Working to support the development of the program went smoothly because of all her qualities.  The event itself was successful, two programs, one evening and one daytime, and both were sold out houses.
Years later, when she approached again with another new work she was developing and looking for a place to stage it, I was unequivocal in saying yes.  The program, Shanghai Angel, a dramatized song cycle that told the story of Heather's Jewish immigrant ancestor coming through Angel Island in the 40s. Angel Island was the west coast port of entry to the US, and many immigrants were detained there for various political reasons.  The story Heather wrote was deeply moving.  Several audience members came to remark that the program was timely and educational.
Working with Heather has been a highlight of my career-learning how someone with so much talent can be so modest and lovely to work with.  This combination of qualities is unfortunately rare, and I feel blessed to have been able to work with her and hope to again."

Director of Public Programs and Visitor Experience, The Contemporary Jewish Museum, San Francisco

"Heather’s performance was riveting! Her voice is like a nightingale.  Her grandmother’s story brought to mind all of our refugee stories. My audience of all ages was enthralled. Heather is wonderful to work with, very flexible and gracious."
Cantor Linda Hirschorn
Temple Beth Sholom, San Leandro, CA

"I have worked with Heather Klein on numerous projects spanning over a decade, including Yiddish songs, art songs, operatic roles and her own original songs. Without reservation, I can say that Heather is a dream to work with. Her musical skills are varied and well-honed. She is equally at home doing 19th Century lieder, difficult modern repertoire for the operatic stage, Yiddish songs (both traditional and experimental), cantorial repertoire and pop songs. Heather’s work ethic and rehearsal technique are both excellent. She is humble and yet also confident at the same time, and in all of the years we have worked together, I have never seen the slightest prima-donna behavior in her, and others will attest to this as well. In fact, Heather’s reputation is as one of the best professionals in the scene. She is much sought after, especially because she is able to tackle the more difficult musical roles that require a trained voice. When we both worked together with the renowned San Francisco Choral Artists, Magen Solon, the conductor, marvelled that Heather was at home in both Yiddish and Opera and asked in astonishment, “Where did you find her? She’s perfect.” I recommend Heather for anything!"
